If this is the first of my travel blogs from my recent trip to England that you’re reading, you’ve picked the right one!
Back in September 2014 I took a three week holiday in England (and a couple of days in Paris) for the first time. London was obviously going to be the highlight, so I started the trip with seven days in London to explore, take photos, and see as much as humanly possible. I got sick as soon as I got there (probably from the 24 hours of travel) but I didn’t let it stop me – instead I just collapsed into bed at 8pm every night.
There were so many highlights from my three week trip, but London was definitely the number one. There was Camden Market to buy some cool/alternative clothes, Primrose Hill to see Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s home, the British Museum (probably my favourite place, their Egyptian collection was fantastic). There was Kensington Palace with it’s slightly creepy Princess Diana memorial from the recent her Russian fan club, South Bank with all it’s art installations and things to do, and Somerset House which was showing a great Nick Cave exhibition. The Tate Modern Museum was full of inspiration (another favourite), there was Portobello Market with all the food that I wanted to eat, the Tower Of London with the beautiful ceramic poppy installation, plus the view from The Shard at night.
Plus no photographer can visit London without taking some long exposures of the London Eye.
Here’s 100 of my favourite shots from London, or perhaps the most interesting ones. There’s plenty more where these came from, which you can see on my Flickr.
All photos shot with my Nikon D800 and Nikon 35mm f1.8 lens or 14-24mm f2.8. If you make it to the end of this post, there’s links to the other blogs from this trip and a list of my top five things to see in London.
Accommodation: I stayed at the Bloomsbury Palace Hotel for the full seven days, it was a great location.
Top 5 highlights: British Museum, Tate Modern Museum, Portobello Market, The Shard, hanging around South Bank.
Other travel blogs from this trip: Cornwall, Bristol and Bath, Brighton, The Cotswolds, Paris.
