Next up on my Europe trip in May after Hamburg was Munich for 3 days. It’s a pretty cool city, very different to Berlin as well – it’s very easy to get around, much less spread out, and the food here was the best I found in Germany.
Here’s my top 5 places to see if you’re visiting Munich:
1. Munich’s Neus Rathaus (town hall) – probably one of the coolest buildings I’ve ever seen, and it’s right in the centre of the city so you’re likely to pass it most days.
2. View of Munich from St Peter’s Church – great for getting a better view of Neus Rathaus too.
3. Isar River in Englischer Garten – aka the river with the surfers (see below), and the walk through the gardens is very nice.
4. Munich Residenz Palace
5. Hofbräuhaus – even if you’re not a beer drinker (I’m not), you have to go here just for the atmosphere. The food is great too.
Below are some of my favourite shots from Munich. All photos were shot with my Nikon D800 and Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 lens. If you’d like to see more you can view them on my Flickr.
