Armageddon Expo 2014

This weekend I photographed Armageddon Expo at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds, it was pretty crazy! Guests included Jenna Coleman from Dr Who, Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad, and Kevin Eastman the creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to name a few. You can view the full collection of photos on my Flickr.

Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards 2014

This week I photographed the AIR Awards (now known as the Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards) at the Meat Market in North Melbourne. This was my fifth year of shooting these awards, and they just get bigger and better every year. Courtney Barnett, Violent Soho and Remi all had multiple wins, with Remi taking home the $50,000 Carlton Dry Global Music Grant. Congratulations to all the winners!

Listen Out Festival

This weekend I photographed Listen Out Festival at the Royal Botanical Gardens. The venue was great, the people were great, the sun was shining and everyone was happy. Highlights included Chet Faker, Deja, Tkay Maidza, the Grill’d Burger Park, and the friendly and helpful staff around the site. I would definitely recommend checking it out next year.

Travel: Paris

I recently got back from a three week trip to England, and while planning it a few months back my friend Carly from London and Bonny from The Netherlands suggested that we all meet in Paris at the end of my trip! It was my first time visiting and a bit rushed, but it was great! We arrived by train on a Wednesday night and went straight to The Louvre, and spent Thursday exploring Versailles, seeing the Eiffel Tower, and going up the Arc De Triomphe and watching the sun set over Paris. Here’s some of my favourite photos from the …

Pet Photography: Gov The Pony

Since coming to work for My Pet Warehouse last year as a graphic designer and photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph many of the cute pets that are brought into the store nearly every day, and I’ve loved it so much that I’ve decided to expand into the world of pet photography. This was my first shoot with Gov – an eight-year-old 12.2hh gelding, a buckskin-registered Australian pony who has won a number of medals including Novice Show Hunter Pony and Champion Australian Pony at the Royal Melbourne Show. I shot these out on a farm in Yering, Victoria, …

Hanson ‘Anthem’ Tour 2014

When I was in high school and every single girl had posters of Hanson in their locker except me (I was busy listening to No Doubt and Aqua), if someone had have told me that one day I would photograph them, I definitely would not have believed it. So anyway, last night I photographed Hanson for their Anthem tour at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne. The squeals were almost deafening – I’ve never been to a One Direction or Ed Sheeran concert, but I imagine the crowd sounded the same. I didn’t stick around to hear Mmm Bop, but I …

Cat Cafe Melbourne – First Look

I was lucky enough to visit the new Cat Cafe in Melbourne before it opened to the public, and photograph some of their gorgeous cats for My Pet Warehouse. This cafe is the first of it’s kind in Australia, so it was very exciting to see what it was like! You can read more about our experience on the My Pet Warehouse blog.

Oz Comic Con 2014

This year I photographed Oz Comic Con for The AU Review, and it was such a fun weekend! The effort that the fans go to to cosplay their favourite characters is incredible, the actors panels were great, and there’s something for everyone. Here’s some of my favourite images, you can view the full set on Flickr here.

Rock N Load 2014

This year I was the official photographer for Saltar Hype’s Rock N Load festival at The Espy in Melbourne. It was a huge lineup with 34 bands over 4 stages, running from 3pm until 2:30am. Here’s a selection of my favourites, and you can view the rest on my Flickr.

Deni Bluesfest 2014

This year I photographed Deni Bluesfest (the sister festival to Byron Bay Bluesfest) for the first time, and it was a fantastic experience! Only a few hours drive from Melbourne, this was probably the most laid back festival I have ever attended. The staff and festival goers were all very friendly, and as VIPs we were very well looked after. I had a great time and would highly recommend this festival to anyone who doesn’t want to travel to Byron Bay for Bluesfest – it’s on a smaller scale, but that makes the festival much easier to get around. John …
