Exhibition: Rone Empire 2019

Last week I visited Rone’s latest exhibition EMPIRE, in the Dandenong Ranges. It was so breathtakingly beautiful, so I wanted to share some of my favourite images here as a collection. EMPIRE is set amongst the decaying glory of a once-magnificent manor Burnham Beeches, in Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges. EMPIRE combines art, vision, sound, light, botanical design and scent to take audiences on a hauntingly immersive multi-sensory journey into a reimagined past of a faded icon. The Burnham project reimagines the spirit of one of Victoria’s landmark mansions, not accessed since the 1980s. Through this, viewers are invited to consider what remains – …

Download Festival Melbourne 2018

Australia’s first Download Festival back in March filled the hole that Soundwave Festival left behind when it ended in 2015 (or at least came close), with bands like Korn, Sabaton, Arch Enemy, Prophets Of Rage, and some unexpected ones like Limp Bizkit and Good Charlotte. It felt more like 1998 than 2018. Shot for Metal Obsession, here’s some of my favourite photos, and you can view more over on my Flickr.

Garbage Australian Tour 2016

It’s been one year since I was following one of my favourite bands Garbage on tour for the second time. The first time was in 2013 (you can read about it here), and it was on of the best weeks of my life. Their ‘Strange Little Birds’ tour here last year falls into the same category for me. I managed to get photo passes for three out of the four shows I was attending, which I was pretty happy with. They were touring for A Day On The Green around Australia with The Temper Trap, The Preatures, Tash Sultana and …

PAX 2017 Cosplay

Another year of shooting PAX Aus for The Iris, and the cosplay this year was bigger and better than ever. Here’s a selection of my favourites.

Sugar Mountain Festival 2016

Last week I photographed Sugar Mountain Festival, a fantastic music and art festival held at the Victorian College Of The Arts in Melbourne. Not only do they have a great selection of musicians each year, but my favourite part of the festival is the art installations they have throughout the venue, all of which are really impressive. Here are some of my favourite shots from the day, and you can view more on my Flickr. All images were shot on my Nikon D800.

PAX Aus 2015

Last weekend I photographed PAX Australia for the second year in a row at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre for The Iris. Here’s some of my favourite shots of some of the attendees – there was even a little dog at the show! All images were shot on my Nikon D800, and you can view more over on my Flickr. You can also check out my shots from PAX Aus 2014 here.

Garbage Australian Tour 2013

One of my favourite bands Garbage are currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Self-Titled album ‘Garbage’, and I thought this would be a good time to take a look back over some of my favourite images from their ‘Not Your Kind Of People’ Australian tour from 2013. Special thanks to Faster Louder and Beat Magazine for getting me the photo passes to these gigs. It turned out to be a very eventful week! All images were shot on my Nikon D7000, and you can view more over on my Flickr. If you scroll to the end there’s also a little story about meeting the …

No Doubt Summer Tour 2009 – California

Where do I start? No Doubt have been my favourite band since I was 10 or 11 years old. I grew up watching their videos on Rage every weekend, collecting clippings from TV Hits magazines, and like every other fan – just really wanting to be Gwen Stefani. In October 2000, No Doubt toured Australia and my parents bought me a ticket to go and see them at Festival Hall in Melbourne with some friends. I was 15, it was my first concert and that night definitely changed my life in so many ways (which I won’t bore you with). They returned in …

Oz Comic-Con Melbourne 2015

Last week I photographed Oz Comic-Con in Melbourne for the third year in a row, this time at it’s new home of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The size of the crowd this year was overwhelming at first with Saturday being completely sold out. I spent most of the two days photographing cosplayers dressed as everyone from Game Of Thrones characters to Batman, but also made time to check out some celebrity guest panels. This was definitely the best Oz Comic-Con I’ve been to in Melbourne so far, the larger venue was alot more accommodating and it was easier to …

Travel: 7 Days in London

If this is the first of my travel blogs from my recent trip to England that you’re reading, you’ve picked the right one! Back in September 2014 I took a three week holiday in England (and a couple of days in Paris) for the first time. London was obviously going to be the highlight, so I started the trip with seven days in London to explore, take photos, and see as much as humanly possible. I got sick as soon as I got there (probably from the 24 hours of travel) but I didn’t let it stop me – instead …
