Travel: Paris and London 2016

So I went to Europe last year on this really great holiday, and completely forgot to share my photos from the last part of the trip on here – Paris and London! I added a couple of days onto the end of my Germany trip to go back and visit these two cities (I was there in 2014), because I wanted to catch some of the things I missed the previous time – mainly the Catacombs in Paris (creepy underground skulls), and the Old Operating Theatre & Museum in London (creepy old medical stuff). You can also check out my shots …

Groovin The Moo Bendigo 2017

A few weeks ago I photographed Groovin The Moo festival in Bendigo for Music Junkee. It was my first time back shooting the festival since 2013 and the fashion has definitely changed since then. No more groups of friends in animal onesies, but plenty of groups of friends in minimal clothing, despite it being about 6 degrees by the time the festival ended. They had some great bands on the bill this year, including Against Me!, Amy Shark, George Maple and Violent Soho. All photos were shot with my Nikon D800 and Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 or 70-200mm f2.8 lenses. If you’d like …

Sugar Mountain Festival 2017

This year’s Sugar Mountain Festival at Victorian College Of The Arts was probably their best yet. The music was excellent, but this year they really stepped it up in the arts category with the stage design, art installations and Sensory Restaurant experience. All photos were shot with my Nikon D800 and Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 or 70-200mm f2.8 lenses. If you’d like to see more you can view them on my Flickr.     The most impressive part of Sugar Mountain this year by far was the Sensory Restaurant experience which combined food, sound and visuals. This year’s list of collaborators were ‘Stranger Things’ soundtrack writers …

Highlights Of 2016

It’s been a busy year! I photographed alot less gigs this year than usual, but still managed to find time to follow two of my favourite bands on tour – The Living End in June, and Garbage in December. I was hoping to finally hit the milestone of having shot 1000 bands, but only made it to 967 (since I started shooting gigs in 2008) – so I guess 2017 will be the year. I tried to restrain myself from just filling this blog post with Garbage and The Living End, but here’s some of my favourite shots from this …

Smashing Pumpkins Australian Tour 2015

Last year I wrote about my previous experiences of following Smashing Pumpkins on tour, just before they toured Australia again for Soundwave Festival. Anyone who has photographed (or even just attended) Soundwave before knows how exhausting it is, and once it was all over I spent a good few weeks recovering from the craziness. Over the last few weeks my Facebook feed has been filled with Soundwave memories from photographers and fans, and it’s making me so appreciative for the incredible memories the festival gave me. In late February 2015, I spent a week following Smashing Pumpkins on tour again and shooting their gigs: …

Sugar Mountain Festival 2016

Last week I photographed Sugar Mountain Festival, a fantastic music and art festival held at the Victorian College Of The Arts in Melbourne. Not only do they have a great selection of musicians each year, but my favourite part of the festival is the art installations they have throughout the venue, all of which are really impressive. Here are some of my favourite shots from the day, and you can view more on my Flickr. All images were shot on my Nikon D800.

Highlights Of 2015

2015 was a pretty good year for gigs, here’s some quick stats: • I photographed 149 bands, at 18 different venues in Melbourne and Sydney • 100 of these were bands I had never shot before • I attended 36 gigs, 27 of these I photographed • I photographed 7 festivals (4 of these were music festivals) • Tour of the year for me: Smashing Pumpkins I think 2015 will always be remembered (for me anyway) as the year that Soundwave Festival ended. It was always the highlight of my year, and honestly I’m pretty upset that I don’t have …

Australian Tattoo And Body Art Expo 2015

Last week I photographed the Australian Tattoo and Body Art Expo in Melbourne. It was my first time shooting a tattoo event – I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a lot of fun wandering around and checking out all the tattoo artists and their work, they were all so talented. Here’s a few of my favourite shots. All images were shot on my Nikon D800, and you can view more over on my Flickr.

Loon Lake ‘The Final Wave’ Tour 2015

A few weeks ago I was invited to photograph Loon Lake’s farewell gig at the Corner Hotel for their ‘Final Wave’ tour. It was a crazy night filled with crowd surfing, confetti, balloons, booze – and even a wedding proposal between two fans! It was a really special night that I had the opportunity to capture – here are some of my favourite shots from the gig. All images were shot with my Nikon D800 or D7000, and a 70-200mm f2.8 or 14-24mm f2.8.

PAX Aus 2015

Last weekend I photographed PAX Australia for the second year in a row at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre for The Iris. Here’s some of my favourite shots of some of the attendees – there was even a little dog at the show! All images were shot on my Nikon D800, and you can view more over on my Flickr. You can also check out my shots from PAX Aus 2014 here.
