Laneway Festival 2017

Back in January I photographed St Jerome’s Laneway Festival at the Footscray Community Arts Centre for my seventh year in a row. I was there to mainly shoot the event production for Architects Of Entertainment, but still made time to shoot some bands – some of the stand out performances were Camp Cope (my current favourite), Aurora, Gang Of Youths and Tame Impala. Looking back through all these shots now is making me long for the next Australian summer festival season to hit! Highlights Of 2016

It’s been a busy year! I photographed alot less gigs this year than usual, but still managed to find time to follow two of my favourite bands on tour – The Living End in June, and Garbage in December. I was hoping to finally hit the milestone of having shot 1000 bands, but only made it to 967 (since I started shooting gigs in 2008) – so I guess 2017 will be the year. Last weekend I photographed St Jerome’s Laneway Festival for the sixth year in a row, for The AU Review. One of my current favourite bands Chvrches were playing (I also shot them at Laneway in 2014), and I finally got to see Purity Ring live after hearing so many great things about them. My favourite new discoveries were Health, Fidlar, DIIV and Metz. There were alot of clashes on the timetable this year, and the Very West Stage was almost one kilometre away from two of the other stages, so it made shooting as many bands as possible a bit …

Highlights Of 2015

2015 was a pretty good year for gigs, here’s some quick stats: • I photographed 149 bands, at 18 different venues in Melbourne and Sydney • 100 of these were bands I had never shot before • I attended 36 gigs, 27 of these I photographed • I photographed 7 festivals (4 of these were music festivals) • Tour of the year for me: Smashing Pumpkins I think 2015 will always be remembered (for me anyway) as the year that Soundwave Festival ended. Veri Live: Snap Feature

I was recently contacted by Veri Live magazine to be ‘Snap’ featured photographer for their final print issue out this month. I was asked to submit ten music related images, with the only rules being that they must be in black and white and cannot be cropped. Last weekend I photographed St Jerome’s Laneway Festival for the fifth year in a row at the Footscray Community Arts Centre in Melbourne. Laneway is one of my favourite festivals to shoot every year, regardless of whether or not I’m a fan of anyone on the line-up, I know I’ll always discover some great new artists – this year for me it was FKA Twigs, Royal Blood, St Vincent, BANKS, and Perfect Pussy who were my highlights.
